Speech Language Pathology
Speech language pathology supports individuals’ communication, language, oral motor, and eating/swallowing skills. This can take place in a variety of settings, including schools, clinics, and in the home. The therapy is highly individualized and is tailored to the specific needs of the child. Therapy sessions may involve a range of activities, such as practicing speech sounds or words, using visual aids to support communication, and engaging in conversation and social interaction.
Examples of the skills that speech therapy may work on include:
Producing speech sounds.
Interpreting nonverbal cues.
Intraverbals skills being built like responding to questions.
Producing the correct words and phrases with the use of a AAC Device.
Associating meaning with images.
Modulating tone of voice.
Oral motor exercises to strengthening the muscles in the mouth, jaw and neck.
